New songs new show just off the road touring with
Aerosmith & Johnny Winter Band
When blues legend James Montgomery plays the harmonica, he "brings it on home". Whether it's recording with Kid Rock, sitting in with Gregg Allman, or fronting his hot band of thirty years, Montgomery plays with authority. While growing up in Detroit he learned first-hand from the masters - James Cotton, John Lee Hooker, and Jr. Wells - at the legendary "Chessmate." Over the years, he's carried on in the tradition and continues to be a vital presence in Blues as one of the most dynamic performers on the scene.

Frank Morey, Scott Pittman, & Matt Murphy
Ok as most of you know one of my favorite shows
Singer-songwriter Frank Morey has never been accused of having a sweet, pretty, angelic sort of voice. The Lowell, MA, native is known for a rough, rugged, throaty style of singing, and his voice is perfect for his very earthy, blues-minded folk-rock. Morey's expressive vocals are as gritty as they are soulful.
Take a chance if you have never seen Frank you will not be disappointed!!!! I Promise

Friday March 14th
An early St. Patricksday treat
Jim McGrath

The first thing you notice about Jim McGrath is the easy competence with which he delivers his songs. The rich baritone has been seasoned over the decades and like a very fine wine – or whiskey -- it is only now coming into its full flavor. The next thing you notice is that Jim never takes his eyes off his audience. He’s constantly on the prowl, looking to make contact with you and bring you his direct vision of the subject of the song he’s singing. It might take a little longer to appreciate what a masterful guitar accompanist he is, but Jim McGrath is the whole package.

A saloon singer extraordinaire, evoking an almost forgotten era when the fellow playing and crooning in the corner of your local pub was the only (and best) entertainment you’d find.

The Jazz show of Jazz shows at
Steve's Be there or be square this gal is unbelievable!!

Boston based daughter of Big Band vocalist, Nancy Carr and trumpet player, Nick Capezuto, Amanda Carr is a multi-styled vocalist/pianist that began early on in the rock and pop genre, but has in recent years focused on fresh interpretations of the Great American Songbook, following in her parent’s musical footsteps. For over three decades she has recorded and performed internationally, adding her own musical gems as well which have received critical acclaim from a tough bevy of jazz reviewers. In her national recording debut in 2005, Tender Trap hit the jazz charts at #55 and received 4-stars from All Music Guide. Jazz Review.com donned her “…a first rate vocalist”. In September of 2007 Amanda was featured by the great Nat Hentoff in an article in The Wall Street Journal which catapulted her to global exposure.

The Little Mahrud Jazz Orchestra

The band which recently released its second acclaimed studio album featuring sparkling arrangements of such tunes as Gillespie’s "A Night In Tunisia" and "Groovin High" and Chick Corea’s "Open Your Eyes You Can Fly."

The Little Mahrud Jazz Orchestra features Baraiolo and Jerry Seeco on trumpet, Bob Holfelder on trombone, Bill MacGillivray on drums, Jeff Cox on guitar, Ben Aldrich, bass, and a sax section composed of Steve Gaudreau, Mike Crowley, Philippe Cretien and Rich Lebedz.

Two Big Nights Friday & Saturday
Friday March 28th
Sherman Lee and the Dillonaires
CD Release Dirty, Dusty Road

Sherman Lee with son Andrew and daughter Anna are multi-instrumentalists with strong, clear voices who perform old-timey Southern music and shape-note songs. They combine their talents and love for traditional music with an upbeat sense of humor that keeps listeners on their toes -- when not tapping them -- throughout a performance. They're as much fun to watch as they are enjoyable to listen to.
Opening Tonight: Andy Cohen

Andy Cohen has been playing one kind of old time music or another since he was barely tall enough to reach the piano keys. His best-known virtuosity is in the blues - the good old, honest, down-to-earth, licks-filled acoustic blues. He is lucky (and old) enough to have learned directly from some of the greats, including Jim Brewer, Pink Andersen, Honeyboy Edwards, Rev. Dan Smith, Daniel Womack, and many more. He is a scholar of the works of Rev. Gary Davis, and comes just about as close as anyone can to replicating Rev. Davis' intricate style of guitar playing.

Adam Goldberg, Frasco-Rohrer

Bring Change of Pace to Sunday Night Jazz

In the mood for a piano man who blends a Billy Joel-like persona with his own intense music? How about a manic duo whose jazz-infused pop tunes are a match for the pair’s rapid-fire banter?

You'll find it hard to resist a smile--or tapping your feet–when pianist/singer-songwriter Adam Goldberg is joined by tuneful cutups Chris Frasco and Sean Rohrer in a split show .

Chris Frasco's music blends elements of jazz with everyday pop. The songs are upbeat, catchy, and fun to sing along to. Frasco’s partner is percussionist-singer Sean Rohrer, who occasionally swaps his drums for Frasco’s guitar.

Goldberg’s piano-based rock draws on influences ranging from pop culture (game show host Bob Barker gets a nod in one of his tunes) to pop psychology (“In Advance” warns that the artist might have turned out just a bit different than what some of his friends  had imagined).

His intense live performances along with his two albums of original material are both stimulating and thought-provoking. Mixing rhythmic piano riffs with poignant and often sarcastic lyrics makes for a  powerful listening experience.
